The Department of Arquitectura e Urbanismo of Universidade Lusófona (DAU-ULHT) was invited to attend the International Students Workshop – Gryfino City Revival, organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at West Pomeranian University of Technology, Poland.

The international workshop lasted for ten days and discussed the issues related to waterfront cities. Its objective was the creation of a development concept for the city’s waterfront which may constitute the basis for a new local development plan.

The studio work aimed to design a waterfront area in Gryfino that will serve the needs of its inhabitants, while expressing this small but expanding city’s aspirations and displaying its historical and geographical value.

The workshop provided a space for experimenting novel team work methods with participants from diverse cultures. It is hoped that this experience has given the students new competences in architectural and urban intervention, as well as empowered their team group skills.

Professor Rui Simões and Integrated Master in Architecture students Marcelo Rafael and João Pedro Serafim represented Universidade Lusófona at the workshop.
